Business writing minor baruch. All students are limited to two minors. Business writing for non native speakers in this course students learn how to write effective text messages email memos and letters. This minor is particularly recommended for students preparing for careers in business government marketing management public relations media law education politics and with nonprofit.
These minors do not replace the liberal arts minor. Baruch offers a variety of majors and minors across three three distinguished areas. Non business majors are limited to one business minor.
The program includes options to study business and marketing related writing internet communications legal writing journalistic writing and financial writing. The school of public and international affairs the weissman school of arts and sciences and the zicklin school of business. The minor in business writing requires a minimum of nine credits including one course chosen from jrn 3050 journalistic writing jrn 3150 business communication and jrn 3200 business and financial writing.
Courses that apply to the minor may not be used for any other requirement. Students will expand their research analytical and writing abilities as they study and become proficient in the use of workplace related writing. Students develop their writing grammar and vocabulary as they focus on appropriate formats style and tone for a variety of audiences including employers colleagues customers and clients.
Students officially admitted to the weissman school of arts and sciences or the marxe school of international and public affairs who wish to take business courses may do so by declaring a business minor. The only exception is for international business majors who are required to have a liberal arts minor and functional minor. The minor in business writing provides students in business public affairs and liberal arts with a firm foundation in professional writing for business purposes.
